“Home Run” is an adaptation of the Iranian film ‘Children of Heaven’. It features an impoverished pair of siblings who have to share a pair of shoes when the brother, Ah Kun, loses his sister’s, Seow Fang’s, shoes. ‘Home Run’ provides a vivid picture of Singapore before her independence in 1965, where people were worse off economically and people lived in kampungs, which means village in Malay.
Plot: After a 10-year old Ah Kun loses his sister's shoes, he asks her not to tell their poverty-stricken and frustrated parents. For a time, the two share a pair of shoes, until Ah Kun comes across a race where third prize is a new pair of shoes.
Overview: Ah Kun, a 10-year old school boy in an old village, and his young sister, Seow Fang. Their mother is pregnant and is too weak to work; their father earns a meagre salary doing odd jobs and is behind on the rent.
Ah Kun loses his sister's shoes while running an errand. Devastated, he asks her not to tell their poverty-stricken and frustrated parents. Seow Fang will wear Ah Kun's shoes to school in the morning, then run home so that Ah Kun can go to school in the afternoon. But Seow Fang finds getting back on time rather difficult.
Complications ensue until Ah Kun comes across a cross-country race for schoolboys where the third prize is a pair of new shoes.
Running Time: 108 mins. (approx.)

Ang ganda ng movie..I saw the thriller kc sa ABC 5 tpos sabi nung mga homegrown talents ng Pinas na ang ganda daw ng movie kaya ayun alarm kung yung phone ko ng 10:30PM saturday, March 5, 2005. bago pa mag 10:30 grabeh yung mata ko gusto na tlgang pumikit..but when the clock ticks 10:30 I dont know what happen at naging alive ako...take note i have to read the subtitle and its so small but I did read it and feel the scenes...
The cast did a very wonderful job portraying their characters, of course the lead stars! I am so touched with it...The film has different kinds of linkage...when you want to laugh, there's that part when Ah Kun and Seow Fang was talking about how to deal with the fact that she doesn't have a shoe to use the next day while their dad was reffering to the glue Ah Kun was using while they are making an errand for their customer. Also there's that part that small boy who talks very fast..
The film is so beautiful that it have me cry when it finished. The cast said it right, to him (son of the town's shoe owner) a shoe doesn't matter, but to Ah Kun it means a lot, it means a big deal.
Simple but strucks you hard on your heart. I planned to have a copy of this.
